1.2 ACADEMIC SUPPORT SYSTEM

Extra curricular activities, such as silat, marching band
and Strengthen the students in the field of religion such as; students praying in congregation and memorizing the Qur’an. And at Baitirrahmah Elementary School there is also TPQ (Taman Pendikan Qur’an) (Alqur’an educational Park) were the academic support system of SD Baiturrahmah.

1.3 TEACHING SYSTEM

In SD Baiturrahmah they study  in two semesters a year, each lesson has an annual program and semester program. In Baiturrahmah Elementary School, the study process is full day. Monday to Thursday from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm and Friday, 7:30 am to 11:30 am. Every day they have different activities in the morning. They will gather together in the quadrangle if the weather is fine and if it rains they will gather in something like an auditorium, they will start their morning routine with a prayer and then followed by the activity for the day like English or physical day. In their english activity the English teacher will teach the kids some basic english words, greetings and etc. In their Physical activity my cooperating teacher will be the leader in their morning exercise and the kids will follow what she is doing. After some exercise, the playing of game will follow; after playing games, they will get back into their respective classrooms.

1.4 MATERIALS AND OTHER LEARNING SOURCES

As I observe my cooperating teacher, every lesson that being taught is sourced from the teacher’s book and other supporting books related to her lesson, since they don't have power point projector in their classroom the teacher uses the traditional strategy.

1.5 MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION

After my cooperating teacher teached her student a song. She assigned a clapping pattern for each row of tables. Then she will interchange again the pattern if she see that they already mastered their first clapping pattern that she first gave.
SD Baiturrahmah's Assessment carried out on students consist of 4 aspects:
Spiritual
Social
Knowledge
Skills
Determination of scores for each aspect:
94-100 = A (very good)
87-93= B (good)
80-86= C (enough)

1.6 CURRICULUM

In the learning process, SD Baiturrahmah applies the 2013 curriculum. The 2013 curriculum (K-13) is a valid curriculum in Indonesian Education System. This is the curriculum applied by the government to replace the 2006 curriculum which has been valid for 6 years. 2013 curriculum entered the trial period in 2013 by making several schools into pilot schools.

1.7 TEACHING PLAN

In order to achieve learning objectives, each teacher must have a learning Plan called RPP (Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran). RPP is made by the teacher for each class meeting according to the material to be taught. But, during my practice in SD Baiturrahmah, I have observed that the teachers doesn't have or bring a lesson plan. My teacher doesn't have a lesson plan at all. Below is the format of their RPP or the so called lesson plan in the Philippines, this RPP is made by the other teacher in SD Baiturrahmah.

2. PEDAGOGICAL CONTENT

2.1 TEACHING METHODS OF THE TEACHER YOU OBSERVED
My cooperating teacher is such a jolly and approachable teacher. That's why when she enter the classroom students will get really excited. She told me that in order for you to get along with your students you should not make them feel pressured. Make them feel that learning is a fun thing. Her method of teaching is like they are just playing a game in the classroom and I'm so amazed because the students really listen to her and cooperate actively in her class. Since SD Baiturrahmah doesn't have new technologies in their classroom, my cooperating teacher still uses traditional strategy in teaching.

2.2 THEIR LEARNING MATERIAL AND INNOVATION
During lecture, my cooperating teacher depend on the  textbook for the students to have a guide. Since it is a music class, the main material of the teacher is the textbook for music because the songs that the she will teach is in there and their classrooms doesn't have any source of new technology.

2.3 SOURCES OF LEARNING AND TECHNOLOGY USED BY THE TEACHER
A conducive teacher is one of the important tool for the students to have a meaningful and fruitful learning. In my observation, even though my cooperating teacher doesn't have or use the new technology, she still have all the equipment needed and a comfortable learning environment when teaching.

2.4 AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT USED BY THE TEACHER
The teacher that I have observed uses a holistic rubric which provide her an overall impression of student’  performance in her music class.

3.3 OTHERS

4.  TEACHING PRACTICE

4.1 PROCEDURES OF TEACHING
My usual procedures in teaching has no difference with the procedure of my cooperating teacher. I go inside the classroom and greet them, check the attendance then ask about their condition and ask them about their previous lesson. After the usual routine, we will play some game that is related to our lesson and would give them an idea about what are we going to tackle for that day. After that motivational game is the discussion of our lesson for that day; followed by asking them some questions about our lesson, and so. After the discussion I will give them activity; the students will have their performance task. And the last part of my teaching procedure is the evaluation,
to see if my students have learn from my discussion.

4.2 TIME MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZING ACTIVITIES
The time allocation for my lesson was 1 class equals to 60 mins. What I did was I only choose a motivation that is easily to get done with and I make sure that it will be finished after 10 minutes. I set 25 minutes for my discussion and teaching. I gave 5 mins for the recap; 10 minutes for the enrichment activity
and 10 minutes for my evaluation.  I really managed my time well for me not to exceed, and thankfully my students are very much active that for every part of my lesson they will response right away even though we have a little conflict with our communication and their behavior. I somehow manage my time well just as how I planned it.

4.3 PROBLEM SOLVING
The only problem I had was communicating to my students because most of them can't understand and speak English. And my buddy is not there to guide me because their class has started already during my teaching practice, but thankfully, there is always a student that can somehow understand and speak English in each class. And for us to really get along, I practiced some basic Indonesian words like verbs and some questioning phrase for me to c ommand them and ask question easily.

4.4 CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
When my students hear the word "game" they get really excited and start to make a noise which is a bit difficult to handle especially that they're the elementary students. But thankfully there are some students who are responsible enough and they helped me make their other classmates to stop from being noisy. Another one is, there are some students who doesn't pay attention to the activity I gave, what I did is I always roam around and check if they're doing their task attentively, and somehow it was effective because they really did their task well.

4.5 OTHERS
When I told my students that my practice teaching is about to end, they were sad about it and keep telling me not to leave SD Baiturrahmah because they said that they love learning with me. They keep on asking about my number in whatsapp and my social media account, because they wanted to communicate with me. Well, it is really hard to say goodbye to the kids, but I don't wanna let them feel sad so I told them not to be sad because in time we'll meet again and I always tell them "see you on instagram kids" and then they'll start laughing again. Those kids really helped me in molding my self to become a globally competitive teacher in the near future.

5. SUMMARY AND SUGGESTION

5.1 PURPOSE OF PRACTICUM  (Meets or not meets your need)
The purpose of this practicum is to enhance the skills of each participants, especially in teaching in different environment and culture; to also learn how other country teach in their school and vice versa. To gain new experiences and memories for the student teacher to have a wider perspective and to become more adaptive and open to a sudden changes. Another purpose is to enhance the speaking and communication skills and to boost their confidence. Last but not the least, the purpose of this practicum is to produce a globally competitive student teachers who will become well prepared teachers in the near future.

5.2 PROCEDURES OF PRACTICUM
In joining this practicum you must need to prepare your financial budget from your travel expenses down to your allowance/pocket money for a month.  You must need to prepare the important papers such as passport, tickets etc. You also need to prepare your medications and health. Since you are going to be miles away for one month you will be facing new people so you need to be careful with your actions. Courage and strength are also needed here. You should cherish every moment of this journey. First week is the adjustment and orientation week, second week will be the observation week in your assigned school (but in my case 1 only observed for 3 days because my cooperating teacher did want me to become her assistant already and so during those time I also teach the students some Filipino and English song), third week will be the teacher’s assistant week (you will be the assistant of your cooperating teacher in your assigned school. During this week I already start teaching because my cooperating told me so. My cooperating teacher really wants me to teach everything that is related to Philippines, that's why she wanted me to start teaching during this week.), and on the last week is your final teaching week (This week is really  my final teaching week, so I need to really do my very best because my cooperating teacher and a mentor from my receiving university will observe me. I am thankful enough that I've delivered my lesson very well). And in every weekend is a day of field trip and memories. Expect to have farewell parties and reflections about your one month experience in school.

5.3 OUTCOMES OF PRACTICUM
As I can reflect in my self, the outcomes of this practicum are:
  • A Student teacher improve their social skills, leveled up their English proficiency and boost their confidence.
  • A Student teacher gain a new perspective.
  • A Student teacher become more open minded in terms of cultural differences.
  • Everything they have learned in their sea teacher journey may be applied in their respective country.
  • Lastly, student teacher become more globally competitive and ready to become an educator in the near future
5.4 THE CHALLENGES OF PRACTICUM
One of the challenges I have encountered as an exchange student was coping up with the culture, the adjustments from the environment down to the communication. It is  really a challenging experience dealing with people who can’t understand English and speak English usually. Another challenge I’ve experience is that even my cooperating teacher cannot speak and understand English; but she’s really kind. She wanted me to use the lesson plan in the Philippines because she wanted to learn the process of teaching in the Philippines and she wanted also to apply it some time.

5.5 OVERALL IMPRESSION
This program is very much worth it! In a one month exposure in other country there were lots of lesson you can get from experiences and challenges. You’ll get attached to everyone whom you’ll met along the way; expect tears during your flight back to your respected country. This program will boost your confidence, give you new knowledge and a better perspective of the world.

5.6 SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE IMPROVEMENT
I hope that this program will continue giving more future educators an opportunity to experience a new world.
